MICRONEEDLING (also known as collagen induction therapy) involves using tiny needles to create micro channels (tiny holes) in the skin. This treatment stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and in the process produces collagen and elastin.

This repair process begins almost immediately and results in a thicker dermis and softened wrinkles or scars.

There is no tissue destruction with micro needling. The small channels in the epidermis close very quickly and the skin begins a healing response right away. Depending on the depth of the skin defect, you may see only redness or you may experience some pinpoint bleeding which stops almost immediately.

  1. Reduces fine and deep wrinkles.

The primary appeal of microneedling is its ability to stimulate growth of collagen and elastin, which is the key to new, youthful-looking skin.

This procedure is the most powerful way to stop ageing in its tracks and prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming. With its ability to trigger the generation of new skin cells, just a few sessions of microneedling will noticeably reduce fine lines, crow’s feet, and deep wrinkles on the forehead.

  1. Repairs visible scars

Scarring is a particularly distressing phenomenon and is most unwelcome when it occurs on the face. Scars can arise on the face due to a number of causes, the commonest of which is acne vulgaris.

After completing microneedling sessions, the results are considered to be permanent.

Newly formed collagen smooths the skin and removes traces of acne scarring.

  1. Reverses sun damage and pigmentation

By stimulating collagen growth with microneedling, you can also reverse sun damage and discolouration, including the hyperpigmentation that comes with melasma.

  1. Minimises pores

One major benefit of using a dermaroller is that it helps pores appear much smaller. Microneedling stimulates collagen in and around your pores, which causes them to plump and appear shrunken.

  1. Makes the product work better

One of microneedling’s additional appeals is that it improves product absorption tremendously.

The tiny punctures act like little channels, allowing topical products to penetrate skin better and work more effectively.

  1. Can be done all over your body

An awesome benefit of microneedling is that this treatment isn’t exclusive to the face. It can be done on any area of skin that needs to be repaired—particularly areas that display stretch marks or acne scars, like the legs, chest, back, and butt.

As few as four to six sessions could make a difference in these problem areas.

  1. Stimulates hair growth

Microneedling stimulates three mechanisms that are crucial for hair growth which are:

  • Release of platelet-derived growth factor, epidermal growth factors are increased through platelet activation and skin wound regeneration mechanism.
  • Activation of stem cells in the hair bulge is under wound healing conditions which are caused by derma roller.
  • Overexpression of hair growth related genes vascular endothelial growth factor, B catenin, Wnt3a, and Wnt10b.
